Sokhna Niang, cook and food blogger

In 2016, Sokhna Niang decided to drop everything and become a cook, her lifelong passion. Two years later, she launched her YouTube channel, where her videos give us her slant on traditional and not-so-traditional recipes. She is now a regular part of the Strasbourg food scene and does brunches at the Graffalgar: food, music and cocktails.

How come Strasbourg is the place to be?
You can do everything in Strasbourg! Everything! The lot!

Strasbourg in 3 words?
Human, human and human, that’s pretty good! [Laughter] Because we’re welcoming and because it’s a city that’s managed to keep human.

A high point of your personal professional life in Strasbourg?
When I decided to change jobs, without asking my family and friends, who would immediately have started worrying about me!

The Petite France, the Orangerie and the St.Thomas bridge.

The secret spot you only tell friends about?

By the St. Thomas bridge, there are some weeping willows and that’s my secret place.

What song are you listening to in town?
At the moment I’m listening to Anderson .Paak’s, Tints.

A perfect Sunday morning in Strasbourg?
Brunch. It can be anywhere, but it has to be brunch.

What to eat? 
A tarte flambée: it’s an absolute must, or a Baeckeoffe.
